오마주투레거시

Derived from the meaning, "gesture of respect" or "tribute," an hommage refers to the intentional citation of an artwork as a sign of admiration. Within film, it often involves referencing key scenes or dialogue from previous works as a tribute.

OUWR’s third collection, born from our deep respect for the cultural artifacts that have stood the test of time, is inspired by the beauty of Korea’s historical treasures.

P7 : CHOCHOONG

Chochungdo is an eight-panel colored folding screen painted by Shin Saimdang (1504–1551) and designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Gangwon Province.

The [P7: Chochoong] pattern pays homage to this masterpiece, known for its simplicity of subject, balanced composition, delicate and feminine expression, and refined yet distinctly Korean colors. Among the eight paintings, this pattern draws inspiration from “Poppies and Lizard” and “Cockscomb and Dung Beetle.”

Each of the eight scenes in Chochungdo carries symbolic meanings such as fertility, longevity, prosperity, and vitality. Reinterpreted through OUWR’s unique color palette and combinations, this modern homage infuses the artwork with a lively and dynamic spirit.

P8 : MORAN & P9 : DAINTY MORAN

The Moran (牡丹), with its large, vibrant blossoms, has long been revered as the "king of flowers" in East Asian culture, symbolizing royalty and prosperity. Also known by the epithet Buquihua (富貴花) as "flower of wealth and honor."

The [P8: Moran] and [P9: Dainty Moran] patterns pay homage to Moranbyeongpung (Peony Screens), which were prominently featured in royal ceremonies and court rituals during the Joseon Dynasty, including ancestral rites at Jongmyo, weddings, and memorial services.

Spanning ten grand panels, these screens showcase a continuous arrangement of peony trees, exuding a sense of opulence and dignity. Inspired by their lush, layered blossoms and flourishing leaves, the P8 and P9 patterns have been reimagined through OUWR’s distinctive color palette and combinations, breathing new life into this timeless motif.
